警醒谨守，迎接主来

1弟兄们，论到时候日期，不用写信给你们；
【niv】Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,
2因为你们自己明明晓得，主的日子来到，好象夜间的贼一样。
【niv】for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
3人正说平安稳妥的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同产难临到怀胎的妇人一样；他们绝不能逃脱。
【niv】While people are saying, 'Peace and safety,' destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4弟兄们，你们却不在黑暗里，叫那日子临到你们象贼一样。
【niv】But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
5你们都是光明之子，都是白昼之子，我们不是属黑夜的，也不是属幽暗的；
【niv】You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
6所以我们不要睡觉，象别人一样，总要警醒谨守。
【niv】So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.
7因为睡了的人是在夜间睡，醉了的人是在夜间醉。
【niv】For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
8但我们既然属乎白昼，就应当谨守，把信和爱当作护心镜遮胸，把得救的盼望当作头盔戴上。
【niv】But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
9因为 神不是预定我们受刑，乃是预定我们借着我们主耶稣基督得救。
【niv】For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
10他替我们死，叫我们无论醒着、睡着，都与他同活。
【niv】He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
11所以，你们该彼此劝慰，互相建立，正如你们素常所行的。
【niv】Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
